History of Davidson and Jones
The Company was founded in 1918 by James A. Davidson and was soon joined by Seby B. Jones. Initially, the company concentrated its efforts as a construction company, specializing in large custom homes and churches. Robert L. Jones joined the firm in 1958 and the construction company expanded into industrial/commercial construction, covering the southeastern United States.
Projects included several shopping malls, industrial complexes, hospitals, prisons, museums and public buildings. In 1981, Davidson and Jones Development Company was formed to specialize in development of office buildings, hotels and industrial buildings for the family's investments. Davidson and Jones Development Company was changed to Tri-Properties, Inc. to better represent the local area's connection with the Research Triangle Park. Davidson and Jones Hotel Corporation was formed in 1982 and is engaged in development, ownership and management of various size hotels. The company has developed over 20 hotels ranging in size from 120 rooms to 333 rooms with most being full service facilities. Mr. Jones sold the Davidson and Jones Construction Company to Skanska, USA Building, Inc., whose headquarters are in Stockholm, Sweden with offices around the world. Mr. Jones continues his relationship with Skanska as a Senior Consultant, based in Raleigh.

In 2005, the newest entitities of the Davidson and Jones family were formed. Davidson and Jones Realty and Davidson and Jones Residential were created to better serve the growing need for real estate services in the Triangle area.
